James Corden dances backup for Taylor Swift, terrorizes a bunch of other pop stars
Because we all used to be with it, but then they changed what “it” was, it’s okay to not be in the know as to the current crop of pop stars. That’s one of the reasons this segment from James Corden’s Late Late Show is so helpful; in it, Corden takes over as the general manager of Inglewood’s The Forum for its iHeartRadio Jingle Ball concert. There, he goofs off with the show’s hefty lineup, which includes everyone from Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran to Demi Lovato, Sam Smith, Niall Horan, and Liam Payne.
That includes filling in as one of Swift’s backup dancers, during which the pop starlet (and one of those featured among Time’s Silence Breakers) clearly struggles with both his vocal contributions and his, erm, revealing outfit.
Earlier in the segment, he massages Horan to sleep after asking after the young man’s hemorrhoids, discovers Lovato is very bad at choreographed handshakes, and serves as security guard for a befuddled Sheeran, who still manages to turn in a better performance here than he did on Game Of Thrones.
It’s all very sweet and charming, not to mention a fine way to introduce yourself to the people your kids can’t stop YouTubing. Hey, better them than pregnant Elsa.
