James Wan and the Stranger Things producers are teaming up for a "coming of age" slasher movie at Netflix
Theorizing that it might be on to something with this whole massively successful “teenagers versus monsters and evil killers” thing, Netflix has announced that it’s teaming up with The Conjuring’s James Wan and Stranger Things production company 21 Laps for a new teen-focused slasher flick. Based on a book by YA author Stephanie Perkins, There’s Someone Inside Your House is being sold as a “coming of age” version of the traditional slasher picture, complete with a young female protagonist ready to kick the killer’s butt.
According to Deadline, Perkins’ novel focuses on Nebraska newcomer Makani Young, who’s busy juggling homesickness and high school romance when the kids around her start mysteriously dropping dead. Wan is set to produce, along with 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy; meanwhile, Netflix has yet to announce a director, but Henry Gayden, who recently wrote the screenplay for DC’s Shazam!, has been tapped to pen the script.
