Jemaine Clement says Flight Of The Conchords is coming back for an hour-long special this year

What We Do In The Shadows isn’t the only Jemaine Clement-associated project that’s due for a return sometime soon; according to Entertainment Tonight, fans of Clement’s much-celebrated musical partnership with Bret McKenzie, Flight Of The Conchords, will be in for a treat later this year, too, in the form of an hour-long special that Clement says the duo will be shooting some time in 2018.

This comes out of an interview that took place at today’s TCA winter press tour, where Clement responded to questions about the Conchords stage tour—which is running through the U.K. this spring—by confirming that he and McKenzie intend to shoot “something” at some point this year. “We’d do something,” he replied when asked about a possible Conchords TV reunion. “We’re going to film a little something this year,” he added, elaborating, “We’re going to shoot an hour thing.”

It’s not clear if this alleged special will arrive on the show’s old U.S. home at HBO, or if the pair will be releasing it independently; according to ET, the network has yet to comment on the news.

Update: We reached out to HBO about the special, and they got back to us with a brief statement suggesting that nothing’s quite set in stone: “The deals are not fully in place. We’ll hopefully have news soon and will be back in touch.”
