Jennifer Garner to reunite with ex Ben Affleck (for his movie)
Jennifer Garner is in negotiations to star alongside Matt Damon on her ex-husband Ben Affleck's new film Animals
Bennifer fans are winning at the moment. If you’re pro-Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, you get to enjoy their relationship through This Is Me… Now, and appreciate The Greatest Love Story Never Told (now 100% more told!). If you miss Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, well, you’re also in luck, because the ex-spouses are in talks to reunite for Affleck’s next directorial outing, the Netflix film Animals. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Garner is currently in negotiations to star alongside Affleck’s good buddy Matt Damon. It will mark the first time Garner has been directed by her former husband.
Damon and Affleck, who most recently collaborated on The Last Duel, Air, and a Dunkin Donuts commercial, are producing Animals under their Artists Equity banner. The thriller is about a mayoral candidate (Damon) and his wife (Garner) whose son is kidnapped. “Surrounded by plenty of enemies, political and otherwise, the husband and wife have no choice but to get their hands dirty in order to save their son,” according to the synopsis (via THR).
Garner and Affleck were married for 13 years; they first connected on set—initially on Pearl Harbor, and later reconnecting on Daredevil. As it happens, Affleck met his current wife, Jennifer Lopez, on set too, as she recently recounted for Variety. “The first time meeting him on that film was at the read-through,” she said of their infamous film Gigli. “I remember kind of just walking in, and I think he was outside smoking a cigarette and I saw him, and we just talked for like a minute and then we sat down and did the read-through. I don’t remember a whole bunch more about it. But I remember being on the set with him every day and loving it.”
Affleck and Lopez also starred together in Jersey Girl, and he also appears in her musical film This Is Me…Now: A Love Story. Lopez might not have been the right fit for Animals (or she might’ve been way too busy with her own stuff; she just announced a North American tour for her new album), but she’s open to working together again in the future. “In the right thing, maybe,” she teased to Variety. “I mean, we love working together and being together. So maybe.”
