Jessica Williams to play an aspiring sci-fi writer in new Showtime series
Not long after leaving The Daily Show, Jessica Williams landed a plum role in the Netflix film, The Incredible Jessica James, where she charmed the hell out of viewers. But she’s getting ready to make the move back to cable—Deadline reports Williams has scored the series lead in some as-yet-untitled Showtime comedy. The 2 Dope Queens co-host will play an aspiring sci-fi writer who “comes of age” in Brooklyn—maybe the show will address how expensive it’s become to do so? In any event, Williams is writing and executive producing the series, which doesn’t have a production date yet, with Jim Strouse, the director of both her previous films.
