Jim Carrey finds the man on the moon in this trailer for Jim And Andy: The Great Beyond
Milos Forman’s 1999 Andy Kaufman biopic Man On The Moon was largely based around star Jim Carrey recreating some of the most famous moments from the weirdo comedian’s life, but the recreations didn’t stop when the cameras weren’t rolling. In this trailer for Chris Smith’s behind-the-scenes documentary Jim And Andy: The Great Beyond, Carrey is practically overtaken by Kaufman, first stunning co-stars Danny DeVito and Paul Giamatti with the accuracy of his impression and then frustrating them with how far he continues to take it. The documentary features footage that was reportedly kept under wraps for years because Universal didn’t want people to think Carrey “was an asshole,” but that’s probably just the line that you have to walk when trying to present a faithful portrayal of a guy like Kaufman.
The film, which is officially titled Jim And Andy: The Great Beyond—With A Very Special, Contractually Obligated Mention Of Tony Clifton, will premiere on Netflix on November 17.
