According to Variety, Nightcrawler director Dan Gilroy has locked up the rest of the cast for his art world thriller, which is already set to star Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo. The new cast members include John Malkovich, Daveed Diggs, Toni Collette, and Natalia Dyer (Nancy from Stranger Things), with the Variety story adding that the plot involves “big-money artists and mega-collectors” who all “pay a high price when art collides with commerce.”
That still doesn’t tell us very much, but like Nightcrawler’s dramatic take on the local news business, this still-untitled project will probably use the art world as a setup to showcase some awful people doing awful stuff. It’ll premiere on Netflix at some point this year, with earlier reports suggesting it would also have some kind of theatrical run so it could be eligible for awards.
