Jon Stewart is doing his post-debate Daily Shows live
The Daily Show is hitting the road and the debates
Taking a page from the book of his longtime debate partner Bill O’Reilly, fuck it, Jon Stewart is doing it live.
The Daily Show has announced a pair of live episodes in celebration (read: fear) of the upcoming presidential debates between bitter rivals President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. Stewart has been on something of a tear since returning to The Daily Show in February. However, these shows, airing after the two scheduled presidential debates on June 27 and September 10 at 11 p.m. Eastern, will be his first live show since his homecoming.
Honestly, there couldn’t be a better time for Stewart to take the stage and provide some much-needed catharsis for our country’s political woes. What with Twitter now a bastion of AI porn, recycled engagement bait, and, oh, so many Nazis, the space for timely political jokes hasn’t been this open in years. Obviously, we all used to enjoy social media’s colorful memes about the debates. It’s how ended up with that wonderful GIF of Trump saying “wrong.” However, now that the internet is bad and the places that were once fun to hang out in are a desolate wasteland of jokes from five years ago, we welcome Stewart’s comedic acumen to coach us through. We didn’t know how good we had it, did we?
The Daily Show will also be doing its traditional trips to the conventions this summer. The series will do a week at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee starting July 15 and a week at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago starting August 22. Well, at least we have something to look forward to this election season.
