Kanye West takes the stage for first time in almost a year
Following a brief hospitalization last fall that was, in part, due to some extensive touring behind The Life Of Pablo, Kanye West mostly retreated from public life. That’s not why he ended up sitting out Trump’s inauguration, exactly, but that probably worked out for the best since Ye is now firmly anti-Trump. West then went to the mountains to work on his new album, and while he’s yet to share any new music, he did perform for the first time in almost a year when he dropped by Kid Cudi’s show at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom last Saturday.
Cudi and West teamed up on the latter’s “Father Stretch My Hands, Pt 1,” looking like they’d patched things up. It was also last fall that the Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’ artist took swipes at his mentor on social media, which West publicly talked about on his abbreviated tour. But they actually seemed to have worked through their issues over the summer while on a trip to Asia to meet with Takashi Murakami, when they also teased a new album. Meanwhile, Kanye’s feud with JAY-Z remains active.
