Kick-Ass 2
2010’s Kick-Ass ripped the shiny, finely coiffed veneer from the superhero genre with its graphic depiction of the masked crusaders who populate New York City. Sure, they were charged with upholding justice and punishing those who considered themselves above the law, but at the end of the day, that translated to brutally maiming and/or killing bad guys with knives, handy blunt objects, and rocket launchers. Kick-Ass 2 is poised to continue the tradition as Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl join forces with Colonel Stars And Stripes (an almost unrecognizable Jim Carrey in what looks like his most perverse role to date) to thwart The Mother Fucker’s revenge plot using as much violence as possible. Although Matthew Vaughn (the director of the original) will produce, he has ceded the director’s chair to Cry_Wolf’s Jeff Wadlow. If the film stays true to its roots, it won’t be appropriate for children…or anybody else.
