Kiernan Shipka meets the Devil in the trailer for The Blackcoat’s Daughter

We’ve been talking quite a bit about The Blackcoat’s Daughter, a.k.a. February, here at The A.V. Club, and now you can see what the hell is up with this movie for yourself with its first official trailer. Emphasis on the “hell” bit, as the trailer teases the demonic forces that have wrapped their claws around two students left behind at a Catholic girls’ boarding school over winter break. Mad Men’s Kiernan Shipka stars as one of those students, Kat, along with Lucy Boynton as her older, more sophisticated classmate Rose. Emma Roberts co-stars as Joan, an enigmatic young woman trekking alone through the snow towards the school for reasons only she understands.

You can bask in the gloomy atmosphere of director Osgood Perkins’ feature debut in theaters on March 31, or much sooner on DirecTV beginning February 16.
