Leslie Jones will return to weigh in on the 2018 Winter Olympics
In 2016, back when we really had no idea how good we had it, Leslie Jones single-handedly made the Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro significantly more entertaining thanks to her infectious enthusiasm for the entire ridiculous affair. NBC quickly caught on to how awesome Jones’ Olympics-themed social media posts were and flew her to Rio for some on-location commentary, and while that minor stunt didn’t help the Summer Games much in the ratings department, it was at least more fun than Ryan Lochte pretending to get mugged.
According to Deadline, NBC is now planning to do the same for the upcoming Winter Games in Pyeongchang by bringing in Jones as a contributor from the beginning. In a statement, NBC Olympics Production And Programming president Jim Bell said that Jones’ “passion for Team USA is contagious, and her adventures in South Korea should be fascinating.” The network’s coverage doesn’t start for another week or so, but Jones is already getting hyped:
Now we just have to wait to see if Matthew McConaughey—the mildly curious immortal wanderer of the Rio games—makes his own appearance in South Korea.
