Life Of Pi

Yann Martel's bestselling novel Life Of Pi is a dense religious allegory, with a layered, three-part storyline that functions as a meditation on the power of faith. But that kind of thing doesn't sell movies, so this trailer for Ang Lee's long-gestating adaptation—a project that's demanded its own sight-unseen belief for years now—doesn't really bother with any of that. Instead it's a dialogue-free, exceedingly bright montage of seafaring adventure scenes with a bunch of CGI tigers, zebras, meerkats, and neon whales running and swimming everywhere, and none of that religious stuff. But still, if you can't wait for Darren Aronofsky's Noah to sate your desire for God-themed movies about animals on boats, know that Life Of Pi will do it this November.
