Louis CK directs a thinly veiled Woody Allen story in this trailer for I Love You, Daddy

In this trailer for I Love You, Daddy, Louis CK plays an award-winning TV writer whose spoiled 17-year-old daughter (played by Chloë Grace Moretz) starts spending time with a legendary 68-year-old film director (played by John Malkovich). The story is a thinly veiled nod to the sexual abuse allegations that have been made against Woody Allen, allegations that have gained new relevance in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, and it all gets another wrinkle thanks to the sexual misconduct allegations that have been made against CK himself.

In his review from the Toronto International Film Festival, The A.V. Club’s own Ignatiy Vishnevetsky said the movie is a “springboard for various CK-ian dilemmas of adulthood, dysfunction, and responsibility” that refuses to “over-simplify.”

I Love You, Daddy also stars Pamela Adlon, Rose Byrne, Edie Falco, and Helen Hunt. Plus, Charlie Day is there as someone who might be Todd from BoJack Horseman. CK directed the film, and it will be in theaters in November.
