Lucifer showrunner Joe Henderson is rebooting Flight Of The Navigator
According to Variety, the long-in-the-works remake of 1986 sci-fi movie Flight Of The Navigator is moving forward with Lucifer showrunner Joe Henderson now writing the script. Back in 2012, a pre-Jurassic World Colin Trevorrow was tapped to helm the remake, but his career has gone through some twists and turns since then that make him less of a draw than he used to be. Meanwhile, Lucifer on Fox has exceeded everyone’s expectations by not being outright terrible, so now Henderson is the one getting called up to introduce a new generation to a weirdly unsettling adventure movie.
The original Flight Of The Navigator was directed by Randal Kleiser, and it was about a young boy who went missing in 1978 and then turned up in 1986 without having aged at all and with no memory of what happened to him. It turned out that he had been abducted by aliens, and he has to work with a robotic alien ship to try and set things right and go back to his original time.
