Man—specifically, Michael Shannon—is the real monster in the new red-band trailer for The Shape Of Water

Yesterday, our film editor, A.A. Dowd, got to dip his toe into Guillermo Del Toro’s latest weirdo fable at the Toronto International Film Festival, offering up his thoughts on the director’s ’50s Beauty And The Beast riff The Shape Of Water. The rest of us, meanwhile, will have to content ourselves with the new red-band trailer for the film, which shows off even more of its creature, its heroine, and—most notably—Michael Shannon in full-on deranged pursuer mode. We even get some vulgar sign-language, just to remind you what that red-band at the start of the trailer is actually for. The Shape Of Water arrives in theaters on December 8.
