There are only a few universal truths we can acknowledge in our increasingly divided world: death, taxes, the fact that they’re just gonna keep making Godzilla movies, and the fact that Jamie Lee Curtis really wants to do a Freaky Friday sequel.

Since at least October 2022, Curtis has been extremely vocal about her desire to play Lindsay Lohan playing a “sexy grandma” in a redux of the classic 2003 body swap film. So vocal, in fact, that she reportedly got Disney on board for the idea which is definitely still happening regardless of this summer’s strikes, at least to hear Curtis tell it. Previously, the studio had confirmed the news via The Hollywood Reporter, with Elyse Hollander attached to write the screenplay.

Still, the truth is so unbelievable—so freaky even—that many have continued to question whether or not the speculative film will eventually switch into the land of “huh, whatever happened to that?” But Mark Harmon, who played Curtis’ dutiful husband-t0-be in the original film, does not seem to be harboring any of those doubts.

In an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Harmon pointed directly to the source when asked for his thoughts on the sequel. “Well, [it’s] because Jamie’s talking about it,” he said. “I’ve known her since she was fifteen. If she’s talking about it, then it’ll happen. All things happen.” In the clip he looks… admittedly not too thrilled about it, but there’s still time for him to swap into the body of an actor who’s actually pumped to make Freaky Friday into Freakier Friday. (Or Freaky Saturday? We’re just spitballing here.)

More importantly, it also seems like Lindsay Lohan is on board. Recently, Curtis posted a photo of the two actors with the caption, “Too late. YOU GREW UP and SO BEAUTIFULLY! Well, it’s Friday, and the strike is over so hopefully, we can switch places again in the near future!” Maybe they’ll actually put “Take Me Away” on streaming services this time.
