Mark Wahlberg to daddy up another family comedy with the director of Daddy's Home
The Daddy-ing of Mark Wahlberg continues this week, with Variety reporting that the actor has signed on for another film from Sean Anders, the writer-director behind the Daddy’s Home movies. It doesn’t sound like Instant Family, in which Wahlberg attempts to play doting foster daddy to three parenting-resistant kids, is technically part of the wider Daddy’s Cinematic Universe—which gets its next installment, Daddy’s Home 2, this November—but it certainly feels like it’s of a piece with his wider comedy-father oeuvre.
Wahlberg’s recent, non-papa roles include Transformers: The Last Knight and Peter Berg’s Patriots Day, but it’s clear that the siren call of the Daddy still has him in its grasp. There’s no word yet, meanwhile, on which actress will be tapped to play his partner in Instant Family, or what kind of paternal hijinks he’ll get up to once the movie starts to film.
