Melissa McCarthy lives in a gangsta's paradise in the trailer for Tammy
Melissa McCarthy is at her best when she’s mucking up and taking way too long to accomplish simple tasks. By that metric, Tammy looks right up her alley. The teaser trailer for the comedy McCarthy co-wrote and produced with husband Ben Falcone doesn’t give away much of the plot, though we already know it involves a road trip. But it does feature plenty of McCarthy’s physical comedy hijinks, as well as a pretty timely reference to the difficulties of wearing a paper bag as a mask.
Presumably a longer trailer will get into some of the movie’s more enticing details, like Susan Sarandon as Pearl, McCarthy’s alcoholic spitfire of a grandmother. Other supporting actors include Allison Janney, Gary Cole, Mark Duplass, Toni Collette, Nat Faxon, Dan Aykroyd, and Kathy Bates. Tammy opens July 2.
