Michelle Rodriguez to star in Robert Rodriguez's new VR-only action series
VR continues to be a weird, scary frontier for mainstream media; between the high cost of initial investment, the often-daunting technical requirements, and the tendency to make a non-trivial portion of its install base toss their cookies faster than a rogue Girl Scout on the run from the cops, it’s been a dicey prospect for big companies to fully invest in. Still, that’s exactly what tech-friendly early adopters are for, thus a new project from director and producer Robert Rodriguez, who’s throwing his energy behind a new VR-only series starring The Fast And The Furious’ Michelle Rodriguez.
Titled The Limit, the series will be set in first-person, and will star Rodriguez as “a genetically enhanced weapon of mass destruction hellbent on destroying the covert agency that created her,” which does, indeed, sound exactly like a Robert Rodriguez heroine. (Michelle Rodriguez just wrapped up shooting on the director’s Alita: Battle Angel, so she’s presumably already in a “badass woman blows shit up” mood.) The Limit will launch later this year on Surreal, a pay-per-experience VR service from STX.
