Mindy Kaling to turn Four Weddings And A Funeral into a Hulu anthology series
People love anthology shows—or TV networks do at least—but they tend to skew a bit toward spooky stories and sci-fi nightmares. Hulu is looking to change that, though, by developing an anthology series based on Four Weddings And A Funeral. Noted romantic comedy fan Mindy Kaling is spearheading the project, with Deadline reporting that she’ll both write and executive produce the adaptation.
The movie follows a group of friends as they reconnect at five different life events, and though the TV project is “still early in the process,” Deadline believes that the TV version will follow this same structure but “with each season following a different story arc.” There was also an idea to have each season follow totally different characters in a different location, with “the lead possibly remaining the same,” but Hulu presumably doesn’t know which one it’s going with yet.
