Mob City

Known variously as L.A. Noir (No, Not The Video Game), Lost Angels (No, Not The Movie Ad-Rock Was In), and The Series Whose Casting Kinda Spoiled The Walking Dead, Frank Darabont’s L.A. story of steady mobbin' in the city has finally settled on the name Mob City. But don’t let all the name changes confuse you: This is still the same tale of L.A. cops versus mobster Mickey Cohen to which we’ve grown so accustomed in James Ellroy novels and movies like this year’s Gangster Squad, now sprawled across six episodes of TNT’s limited event series. Darabont’s Walking Dead alum Jon Bernthal returns to huff through more arterial geysers, playing a cop who straddles the line between “black hats” and “white hats” as a morally ambiguous “gray hat” (which is convenient, because gray goes with almost everything). Also in the cast are Neal McDonough, Ed Burns (as Bugsy Siegel), Milo Ventigmilia, and—in the closing moments of this trailer—Simon Pegg doing a surprisingly convincing American tough-guy accent.
