Mockingbird Lane

Offering your first look at how Bryan Fuller failed to meet the expectations of producer Bryan Singer and NBC, here is a promo for his stillborn Munsters reboot Mockingbird Lane, which neither Singer nor the network apparently expected to look quite so Bryan Fuller-y. And yet that's exactly what you get, with a sense of whimsy and visual spectacle that is quintessential Fuller, while Eddie Izzard deliciously camps it up as Grandpa. (Jerry O'Connell and Portia de Rossi et al. don't rate dialogue just yet.) Perhaps NBC really did want something that was, as early reports indicated, "dark and edgy"—something more akin to American Horror Story than a show that would sneak a Mac startup sound gag into a reanimating scene? Whatever the reason, Mockingbird is now only scheduled to air once as a Halloween special, meaning this promo is also the first opportunity for constantly abused Fuller fans to begin lamenting its not being given a chance.
