Murphy Brown gets (most of) the old gang back together
CBS’s Murphy Brown revival is a few steps closer to hitting the air, as Variety reports that original cast members Faith Ford, Joe Regalbuto, and Grant Shaud will reprise their roles alongside star Candice Bergen.
Ford earned several Emmy and Golden Globes nominations while playing the perky Corky Sherwood, a beauty queen turned broadcast journalist. Similarly, Regalbuto’s work as investigative reporter Frank Fontana earned him an Emmy nomination. They’ll be joined by Grant Shaud, who played Miles Silverberg, the young producer who tried for years to impress Murphy (Bergen). Series creator Diane English is also returning to her beloved sitcom as writer and executive producer.
The revival already has a 13-episode order from CBS, and is expected to be part of the network’s 2018-2019 lineup. But there’s still time for Charles Kimbrough, who played the delightfully stodgy Jim Dial, to rejoin his old castmates behind the news desk.
