Nick Jonas wants fans to campaign for him to play Nightwing

Way back in February, we reported that Lego Batman Movie director Chris McKay and The Accountant’s Bill Dubuque were developing a DC superhero movie about Nightwing, a.k.a. Dick Grayson, the original Robin. Grayson has been one of DC’s most popular characters for years (partly due to his famous butt), so the idea wasn’t totally surprising, but it does remain to be seen how Nightwing might fit into the already complex timeline of the live-action DC superhero movies.

There has been very little public movement on the project in the 10 months since then, but like with all comic book movies, fans online have been campaigning for who they think should play the lead role. Apparently, one of the frontrunners—as if there’s some kind of official metric for this—has been Nick Jonas, who recently spoke with ComicBook.com and indicated that he’d definitely be interested stepping into Nightwing’s very tight pants. Jonas was promoting Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, but he seemed very enthusiastic about Nightwing when the interviewer brought up online fan campaigns:

I’d be super down for this. I didn’t know there was people vying for me to play this role but keep the chatter alive people! If you vote for me, maybe they’ll cast me in it! And then, I don’t know, I’ll thank you all later.

He seems to be regarding this as a fun thing to think about rather than an actual possibility, and there’s really no indication that he’s any closer to getting the role than literally anyone else on the planet, but at least he’s promised a vague “thank you” if he gets the job. That’s more than every other handsome Hollywood boy with dark hair has offered.
