According to Deadline, Nicole Kidman is set to star in a “modern Los Angeles crime thriller” from Girlfight director Karyn Kusama called Destroyer. Kidman will be playing LAPD detective Erin Bell, who goes on a “moral and existential odyssey” when the leader of a “cult-like gang” that she went undercover with years ago resurfaces. Now, she must investigate the members who survived the “tragic” end of her initial undercover job and “finally reckon with the demons that destroyed her past.” To sum it up, Kidman’s a cop who went through some shit and now she’s going through some more shit. The script for Destroyer was written by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, who previously wrote Kusama’s revenge party thriller The Invitation.
Recently, Kidman has suggested that she’d like to try doing some TV comedies, but this seems to be as far away from that as possible.
