Paul Bettany joins the Han Solo movie

Ron Howard continues to fill his inherited Han Solo movie with actors he’s worked with before, with Variety reporting that A Beautiful Mind and Da Vinci Code co-star Paul Bettany has signed on for Howard’s standalone Star Wars film.

The director made the announcement earlier today via Twitter. Howard took over direction of the film earlier this year, after creative differences broke out between Lucasfilm and original directors Phil Miller and Christopher Lord.

Bettany is the second Howard alum to be added to the prequel, which is currently aiming for a May 25, 2018 release date. Howard’s old Willow star, Warwick Davis, joined the cast in August; meanwhile, Michael K. Williams was cut from the movie last week, after being unavailable for reshoots necessitated by the directorial changing of hands.
