Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman have a disastrous Game Night in this first trailer
“Wacky comedy that is also a weirdly intense action movie” is practically a sub-genre these days, and this trailer for Game Night makes it look like a faithful successor to Date Night, Rough Night, and maybe some movies that didn’t follow this naming convention. This comedy movie that quickly transforms into an action movie centers on Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams as a couple trying to organize a game night that eventually transforms form into some kind of kidnapping mystery party, with the two of them realizing that the kidnapping mystery is real just as Bateman gets shot in the hand, a dog gets covered in blood, and a man gets vaporized by a jet turbine—which probably wouldn’t happen like this in real life, but it does give McAdams the best line of the trailer.
Game Night also stars Lamorne Morris, Sharon Horgan, Kyle Chandler, and Jesse Plemons. It was directed by Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (from the Vacation reboot), and it’ll be in theaters on March 2.
