Rachel Bloom and Terry Crews will help Portlandia finish out its final season next year
We’ve known for a while now that Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein’s IFC institution Portlandia would be coming to an end this year, finishing its run after eight seasons of gentle satire and bird-putting-on-ing things. But let it never be said that Portlandia didn’t go out on a high note, guest-star wise, with the network releasing this year’s stacked roster of cameos and accomplices today, along with a January 18, 2018 date for the show’s final premiere.
It’s a pretty hefty list, including TV stars (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s Rachel Bloom and Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Terry Crews), comedians (Brent Weinbach and Andy Kindler) and at least one musician (Kurt Vile.) That’s to say nothing of the already announced appearance by Nick Kroll and John Mulaney, pitting their Oh, Hello weirdos against Portlandia’s bench of eclectic, wigged oddballs.
Rest assured, though, that the series hasn’t forgotten its roots; Ed Begley Jr., Jeff Goldblum, and Natasha Lyonne will all be returning to the series, too. That’s to say nothing of Kyle MacLachlan and Kumail Nanjiani—the only two guest stars to appear on every one of the show’s eight seasons—who’ll both have prominent parts as the series comes to a close.
