Red Dead Redemption II delayed again, but at least it has a release date now

Rockstar Games has finally set a specific release date for its feverishly anticipated Western Red Dead Redemption II: October 26, 2018. The bad news is that this date is quite a few months later than previously expected. Last May, Rockstar backed off from its initial hopes of having the game out by the end of 2017 and bumped it to “spring 2018.” As with the previous delay, Rockstar is apologizing with a handful of new screenshots that give us a moody look at the game’s stars and landscapes.

A trailer released last fall confirmed Redemption II will be a prequel and tell the story of Arthur Morgan, an outlaw mixed up with the same criminal gang that pursued John Marston in the first Redemption. That’s about all the famously tight-lipped developer has said thus far, but it’s safe to say from these illuminating new images that Mr. Morgan is a fan of wearing his hat so the brim covers his eyes, shooting two guns at the same time, and horse rides at sunset. Mysterious and romantic!

Whether on October 26, 2018 or some later date, Red Dead Redemption II is set to launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
