Rian Johnson gave Joseph Gordon-Levitt a cameo in Star Wars: The Last Jedi
For Star Wars: The Force Awakens, director J.J. Abrams pretty gave a cameo to every famous person who asked for one, going so far as to make his old Felicity buddy Greg Grunberg an ace X-Wing pilot with multiple lines and a surprisingly extensive backstory. It make sense, then, that Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson would take the chance to do the same thing and hook some of his friends up with Star Wars cameos. We don’t know if any celebrities will show up as Stormtrooper voices yet or anything, but thanks to /Film, we now know that Johnson’s frequent collaborator Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be appearing in the film as the voice of some kind of alien.
Johnson shared that information himself during the Japanese press tour for The Last Jedi, saying that Gordon-Levitt’s role is “a very brief little thing,” but it will be “fun.” Up until now, Gordon-Levitt has appeared in all three of Johnson’s feature film projects, so his fun/brief alien role in The Last Jedi will bring the streak up to four.
