Riverdale to adapt Carrie: The Musical for an upcoming episode

The CW’s Riverdale is nothing if not a faithful representation of the average high school experience, and no average high school experience would be complete with an enthusiastic dive into the world of musical theater. According to Entertainment Weekly, Riverdale will be trying its hand at some extracurriculars later this season with an entire episode based around Lawrence D. Cohen, Dean Pitchford, and Michael Gore’s Carrie: The Musical. The episode will feature 11 songs from the musical, making this sound a lot like a dark revival of Glee, with all of the major Riverdale characters somehow getting major roles in their school’s production of the musical—aside from Casey Cott’s Kevin Keller, who will be directing.

The episode will air on April 18, and you can see the cast list below courtesy of series creator (and CCO of Archie Comics) Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa:

Entertainment Weekly also has jokey, in-universe cast bios, which can you see at that link.
