Robert Rodriguez releases statement on Harvey Weinstein

As reported by Deadline, Robert Rodriguez—who frequently worked with Harvey Weinstein in his Miramax days—has released a statement on the recent reports about decades of sexual harassment allegations against the producer. “I find the behavior of Harvey Weinstein truly disgusting, both what he did and how he covered his tracks,” Rodriguez said, “and it makes me wonder how many others can’t come forward and tell their full story because of legal and personal intimidation.” He also added that Weinstein’s “repulsive behavior was an abuse of power,” and that he’s “now discovering what true power is.”

Deadline notes that Rodriguez was once in a relationship with Rose McGowan, who was named in the New York Times story that set all of this off and reportedly had “an episode in a hotel room” with Weinstein. The story said she accepted a $100,000 settlement from him at the time that most likely prevented her from speaking publicly, but in the days since she’s made her feelings on Weinstein—and the men who may have enabled his alleged behavior—very clear on social media.
