Romeo And Juliet

Irresistibly drawn to stories about people in nice houses who can’t love each other because of some stupid class something-or-other, Downton Abbey’s Julian Fellowes penned the script for this, the latest version of Romeo And Juliet. Judging by the trailer, that’s a pretty good job if you can get it: Fellowes seems to have just faithfully transcribed all of William Shakespeare’s words here, and he still gets top billing. Anyway, if you’re longing for a more traditional tale of woe after years of modern reinterpretation, you’ll no doubt enjoy what looks to be an old-fashioned, sumptuous costume drama, populated by familiar film and TV faces like Hailee Steinfeld, Stellan Skarsgard, Paul Giamatti, Ed Westwick, and Damian Lewis. Be forewarned: The trailer totally gives away the ending.
