Ryan Murphy confirms that Charles Manson, David Koresh, and Jim Jones are all stopping by American Horror Story: Cult
American Horror Story mastermind Ryan Murphy aired a few episodes of the upcoming Cult season of his horror anthology for critics this week, confirming that some of the most infamous cult leaders of the 20th century—including David Koresh, Jim Jones, and Charles Manson—will appear, all played by series mainstay Evan Peters. Murphy also confirmed who Lena Dunham will be playing, with the Girls creator taking on the role of Valerie Solanas, author of the Scum Manifesto, and the woman who once tried to kill Andy Warhol (who will also show up, played by Peters).
“She told all women to kill men, and it was their only way to rise to power,” Murphy said of Solanas, suggesting that that same feminist rage will find expression in Cult. That seems like it might make for kind of an over-stuffed season, considering that there’s also all that election stuff, the evil clowns, and possibly some bees that all have to fit in there somewhere, but, hey, “insane kitchen sink” is a vibe American Horror Story has done interesting stuff with in the past.
