Sam Raimi set to direct Lin-Manuel Miranda's Kingkiller Chronicle adaptation
Various adaptations of Patrick Rothfuss’ The Kingkiller Chronicle have been in the works since 2015, with Lin-Manuel Miranda joining the project to produce and compose its music in 2016 and Showtime picking up a TV prequel in 2017. It’s a new year now, though, so it’s time for another update on the Kingkiller Chronicle adaptation.
This one comes to us from Variety, which says that Sam Raimi is in talk to direct the Kingkiller Chronicle movie, which will be more of a straight adaptation of the first book in the series than Showtime’s TV series. It sounds like there’s a chance Raimi could take on a different project, but Variety’s sources say this is “in the best position to be his next project.” Miranda is still involved with the series as a whole, acting as “creative producer and musical mastermind.” The original books are about a famous adventurer and musician, so having a real-life famous adventurer and musician like Lin-Manuel Miranda involved definitely bodes well for the future of this already expansive series.
