Disturbing video appears to corroborate Cassie's abuse allegations against Sean "Diddy" Combs
Combs and Cassie settled in November, but there are currently several other abuse cases against him
An incredibly distressing video has emerged that appears to corroborate a number of claims recording artist Cassie Ventura made against her ex-partner, Sean “Diddy” Combs, in a suit she filed last November. The video was obtained by CNN and can be watched here, although be aware that it is quite graphic.
In the footage, dated March 5, 2016 and taken from several security cameras at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles (which Ventura named in her complaint), Cassie appears to walk down a hallway before Combs chases her with a towel wrapped around his waist. The rapper appears to grab Ventura by the back of her neck and throw her to the ground, before kicking her several times as she lays motionless on the floor. He then drags her into a room by her sweatshirt before walking away. Ventura proceeds to pick herself up before Combs returns, shoves her into a corner, and then appears to throw an object he grabs off a nearby table in her direction.
This incident is described in detail in Ventura’s lawsuit, which the two settled one day after it was filed last year. Combs became “extremely intoxicated and punched Ms. Ventura in the face, giving her a black eye,” the filing reads, explaining how he “followed her into the hallway of the hotel while yelling at her” and “grabbed at her, and then took glass vases in the hallway and threw them at her, causing glass to crash around them as she ran to the elevator to escape.”
“Upon realizing that her running away would cause Mr. Combs to be even angrier with her, and completely stuck in his vicious cycle of abuse, Ms. Ventura returned to the hotel with the intention of apologizing for running away from her abuser,” the suit continues, before suggesting that hotel staff urged her to go home, having seen the security footage. It also alleges that Combs paid the hotel $50,000 for the footage, among other horrific details from the years of alleged physical and sexual abuse that Ventura was subjected to.
“The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light,” said her lawyer, Douglas H. Wigdor, in a statement (via CNN).
Combs is currently facing more legal trouble from a slew of subsequent lawsuits from multiple victims alleging assault, harassment, grooming, intimidation, threats of violence, and trafficking. These are still ongoing. In March, Homeland Security raided Combs’ properties in L.A. and Miami as a part of their investigation, which his attorney called “a gross overuse of military-level force.” He continues to maintain his innocence. It was also reported today (via People) that Combs’ alleged drug mule, Brendan Paul (age 25), accepted a plea deal and will avoid jail time in connection to a trafficking case.
