Seth Meyers is hosting the Golden Globes
Lately, it feels like there have been more developments that warrant punishment than any kind of prize, but awards season still looms ahead. Kicking things off once again are the Golden Globes, which will have almost certainly straightened out that whole “Is Get Out a comedy or a drama?” issue before the January 7, 2018 air date. The ceremony will be overseen by Late Night’s Seth Meyers, who’s just been dubbed host by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
In a joint statement with Dick Clark Productions, NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt said they’re all “thrilled that Seth Meyers is going to be hosting the Golden Globes this year.” And we can expect the Saturday Night Live to “[take] a closer look at this year’s best movies and television with his unique brand of wit, intelligence, and mischievous humor,” because that’s what he does on his late-night show. The Globes really didn’t try to cast a net beyond talk show hosts, but at least they didn’t just go with whichever Jimmy was available at the time.
