SNL adds three new featured players, including Popstar's Chris Redd
Saturday Night Live kicks off its 43rd season this Saturday, tapping Ryan Gosling and JAY-Z to welcome fans back to another year of sketch comedy, political satire, and an increasingly emphasized roster of guest star performers. But in between all your Alec Baldwins and Melissas McCarthy, the show is also adding some new talent to its regular cast, with Deadline reporting that three new featured players, Chris Redd, Heidi Gardner, and Luke Null, have been added to the show for its upcoming run.
Redd is probably the most recognizable of the three, having played Hunter in SNL alum Andy Samberg’s 2016 mockumentary Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.
Gardner, meanwhile, appears on Crackle’s SuperMansion, opposite Bryan Cranston, and is scheduled to appear in McCarthy’s latest film, Life Of The Party.
And Null is the latest SNL player to be scooped up from the Chicago improv scene, where he’s a performer and musical comedian at the iO theater.
Saturday Night Live lost three big names at the end of last year’s season, with Bobby Moynihan, Vanessa Bayer, and Sasheer Zamata all taking their leave.
