The producers of Letitia Wright’s recent film Sound Of Hope would like everyone to know that they’re very sorry that they didn’t tell Wright (who they love) that the film would be released in partnership with conservative news outlet The Daily Wire—who, the producers of Letitia Wright’s recent film Sound Of Hope would also like everyone to know, are wonderful people, who they love. The producers of Letitia Wright’s recent film Sound Of Hope love everybody, it has quickly become clear. They don’t understand why we all have to fight.

This is per Deadline, which reports that director Josh Weigel and producer Rebekah Weigel, speaking on behalf of the film’s production at Angel Studios, said today that, “As the director, writers and lead producers, we created this film in the hope it would ignite a movement to end the foster crisis. Letitia Wright has championed this project with us, even choosing not to accept compensation for the sake of the cause. We are grateful for all she has done, and regret she wasn’t informed about the partnership with The Daily Wire. That was not handled well, and we apologize for putting her in this position.” But also, they want to make it clear that they were “deeply grateful for the tireless support of The Daily Wire and its hosts.”

This story kicked up controversy earlier this week, after Wright—no stranger to the stuff—made it clear that she had no idea that Sound Of Hope: The Story Of Possum Trot, was being marketed and distributed by The Daily Wire in partnership with faith-based producer Angel Studios. The Wire, co-founded by Ben Shapiro in 2015, has produced a number of movies and shows over the last few years, often in association with strongly right-wing celebrities like Gina Carano and Rob Schneider. Wright has expressed her strong desire to not be roped in with such names, stating that, “That was not my decision, and I was not given an update or made aware of this decision. I am in no way aligned or affiliated with The Daily Wire.”
