South Park to take on white nationalists in season premiere

Trey Parker and Matt Stone have already said that they’ll be backing off from Donald Trump storylines for the next season of South Park, but the show isn’t giving up on current events entirely. As reported by The Wrap, the show’s upcoming season 21 premiere will tackle the rise of white nationalism in America, with a crowd of racist protestors descending on the town of South Park. The episode is called “White People Renovating Houses,” and Comedy Central’s official description says, “Randy comes to grips with what it means to be white in today’s society” while “protestors armed with tiki torches and confederate flags take to the streets of South Park.”

The specific use of “tiki torches” indicates that the show is making a direct reference to the protests in Charlottesville earlier this summer, but it’s still unclear if this is going to be some kind of vicious takedown of white nationalist beliefs or another “giant douche/turd sandwich” thing. You’ll be able to see for yourself when the new season premieres later this week on September 13, and you can see a preview clip below.
