Steven Yeun goes from killing zombies to killing corporate assholes in the Mayhem trailer

Just because The Walking Dead’s Steven Yeun isn’t coming up with inventive new ways to murder zombies (sorry, “walkers”) doesn’t mean he’s not still busily kicking ass. In the trailer for Mayhem, the actor looks like he commits more acts of violence in 90 minutes than he did in six seasons.

The film stars Yeun as Derek, an employee at a midsize corporate law firm who’s just been fired. However, before he can leave the building, the entire place is quarantined and put on lockdown, thanks to a dangerous virus making its way through everyone’s systems for the next eight hours. They’re told to keep calm, because elevated stress levels will send people instinctively back to their animal impulses. Needless to say, this doesn’t go well. From there, it’s a brutal beatdown between Derek and the rest of the office, with a little help from a mysterious woman (Samara Weaving).

Lest you think this is all going to be played straight, however, it’s not long before the execs are primly debating how much they should offer the other employees to murder Derek. Weirdly, this will be the second gonzo action-horror-comedy about corporate workers murdering each other in a sealed-off building this year (the first being The Belko Experiment), this time out being directed by Joe Lynch (Knights Of Badassdom, Everly). Lynch has a habit of making films we want to like more than we actually do, but here’s hoping this one ends up being as fun as the trailer makes it look.
