Super Bowl ad for Hulu's Castle Rock visits a Stephen King landmark

Back in October, the first teaser for Hulu’s Castle Rock show finally offered some hint as to what it’s place in the “Stephen King universe” would be with a little reference to Shawshank State Prison. For the show’s Super Bowl ad, Hulu hits that note even harder with André Holland’s character not only mentioning the infamous one-time home of convicted murderer Andy Dufresne, but stopping by for a visit—complete with a mega-spooky exterior shot that’s so foggy that it seems like it could be from the Nintendo 64 adaptation of Castle Rock. Beyond that, we get a weird meeting of children in masks, a dog in a bed, and what looks like an It-esque sewer drain. Speaking of It, the new Pennywise himself, Bill Skarsgård, also pops up.

Still no appearances from a certain sci-fi cowboy, though, which is probably for the best.
