Supergirl seems ready to discard Kara Danvers in this season 3 trailer

As any superhero can tell you, secret identities are a real bitch. And in Supergirl’s official season three trailer, the Girl Of Steel appears to be ready to be done with hers. Her stern voiceover informs us that she’s been Kara Danvers for 15 years, but that’s not who she really is. Lena Luthor may be closer to cracking the case, but the rest of us are fully aware of mild-mannered Kara’s much cooler counterpart.

The other big reveal in this 20-second promo is that Supergirl’s first season-three villain will be Robert DuBois, better known as Bloodsport. According to comicbook.com, the bad guy “was created by John Byrne and was one of the first new characters created to face the post-Crisis On Infinite Earths version of Superman… Bloodsport uses high-tech weaponry, including sometimes Kryptonite bullets, and has the ability to teleport them into his hands from a remote location or tesseract.” Looks like Supergirl’s new badassery attitude couldn’t have arrived at a more opportune time. Season three of Supergirl premieres Monday, October 9, on The CW.
