Sure, put Ke Huy Quan in a Star Wars, why not?

Star Wars has had a tough go of it in the last few years. Through a series of financially successful but divisive sequels that seem to diminish in quality with the release of every new Disney+ series, Disney’s Star Wars experiments in fan service and interconnectedness have worn people down (this writer specifically). Star Wars managed to weather the storm of the prequel trilogy to end up in a worse place: Star Wars is just another hub on another streaming service, one of those things on Disney+ that expands the lore at the expense of audience attention.

But there’s at least one guy who’d love to be a part of the ballooning galaxy far, far away: Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan. Not only does Quan love Star Wars, but he “was shameless” about his desire to join the Star Wars family when he saw Indiana Jones and Star Wars producer Kathleen Kennedy last year. Having starred in Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom, Quan ran into many members of his “Indiana Jones family during the award season,” including Kennedy. Quan is also a fan of and starred in the MCU (he appeared in Loki’s second season as O.B.) and wants to parlay his Marvel connection into a Star Wars role. When he saw Kennedy on the awards circuit, he shot his shot.

“I did go up to her and I said, ‘Kathy, I would love to join the Star Wars family,’” Quan told Collider. “That’s another wish list of mine. But honestly, I’ve been very lucky. I’ve been very lucky.”

As we all know by now, Quan is a very passionate actor about the things he likes. He’s also a savvy businessman who knows those who don’t ask never receive. “I went up to give her a big hug,” Quan continued. “And I said, ‘Kathy, Kathy, please put me in the Star Wars universe!’” Ever the fan of corporate synergy, Quan recognized that “if you think about it,” Marvel, Star Wars, and Indiana Jones share the same parent company, ‌The Walt Disney Company, which is “what’s so great about it.”

“What’s so great about it, if you think about it, it’s all under the Disney family, you know? So, I was lucky to be Short Round, which is also Disney. And, now MCU, and, you know, I want to stay in the family. It’s great.”

Yeah, so, whatever, put Ke Hey Quan in a Star Wars. His name can be Florm Scrupulous or some shit. Does it really matter anymore? If he’s lucky, he’ll be on Andor, a.k.a. the one people actually seem to like and talk about, and avoid the stink of whatever lackluster six-part series is still coming down the pike. Better yet, he’d seek out better roles more deserving of his talents. Either way, get that bag, Mr. Quan. You’ve earned it, and we want nothing but the best for you.
