Taika Waititi cooks up a rom-com for Scarlet Witch and Vision
With Thor: Ragnarok, Taika Waititi nailed his contribution to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it’s not hard to see why fans and even the studio would be clamoring to have him back in the director’s chair at some point in the future. Ragnarok did close out the Asgardian’s trilogy, though, which means the What We Do In The Shadows director would have to look elsewhere in the MCU. When asked by Entertainment Tonight where he’d start, Waititi says Korg, naturally, as well as Vision.
Waititi’s first thought is to center a mockumentary around the powerful Avenger to see what he gets up to when he’s not stopping Ultron, like cooking for Scarlet Witch. With some help from the interviewer, Waititi fleshes out an idea for a rom-com about the teammates: She’s the uptight career woman who was too busy for love until it showed up in Infinity Stone-wielding android form, while Vision’s the man-child who wants her to relax and enjoy life in the world they helped save. It certainly sounds like an appropriate precursor to the relationship they forge in the comics—that is, until Waititi interrupts to add that they’re actually related. Okay, then.
It’s a solid effort, but we have to say Saturday Night Live’s concept for a Black Widow rom-com is just a bit stronger.
