Taylor Swift buries Psy once and for all, breaks another YouTube record
Over the weekend, the lyric video for Taylor Swift’s new single “Look What You Made Me Do” broke the lyric video record for most YouTube views in 24 hours, a very specific benchmark that also placed it at 16th place on the list of fastest-growing YouTube videos overall. Swift released the real video for her song during MTV’s Video Music Awards on Sunday, and that one is already breaking more records. As reported by Variety, the full “Look What You Made Me Do” video has broken the YouTube record for most views in its first 24 hours, coming in at a total of 43.2 million, which puts it about 30,000 views per minute.
The previous record holder was Psy, whose “Gentleman” video got a measly 36 million views in its first 24 hours, but this Taylor Swift song seems like it’s going to have a bit more staying power (as distressing as that may be for some of us).
