The American What We Do In The Shadows spin-off lands at FX

Earlier this month, we reported that Jemaine Clement had finished the pilot script for the previously teased American spin-off/remake/whatever of What We Do In The Shadows, the 2014 vampire movie he made with Taika Waititi—of Thor: Ragnarok fame. Now, Variety is reporting that FX has sucked up the rights to that project, giving it a pilot production commitment with Clement on board to write and Waititi directing. Variety says specific plot details haven’t been announced, but it does seem like it’ll be a mockumentary about a group of vampires living in America, as opposed to the New Zealand setting of the original film.

Fans of New Zealand still have a few options for more Shadows content, though, specifically the Wellington Paranormal spin-off that recently wrapped production and the werewolf-focused sequel starring Rhys Darby’s character from the first movie. We have no idea when we’ll get to see any of this here in the United States, but at least it does all seem to really be happening now.
