The creative team behind Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is working on a female-led cop comedy

Fresh off covering three seasons of deranged, often-criminal behavior from enthusiastic schemer Rebecca Bunch, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend co-creator Aline Brosh McKenna has just sold a new film about living on the more rational side of the law to Paramount. Working with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend writers Rachel Specter and Audrey Wauchope, the Devil Wears Prada writer has signed a deal with Paramount Players for a project that’s being described as a female-led cop comedy.

McKenna got her start over in film writing; her credits include Laws Of Attraction, 27 Dresses, and We Bought A Zoo. There’s no details yet about the plot of her new script with Specter and Wauchope, but would it be too much for us to ask that they capitalize on CEG’s success by making this project a musical, too? It’s been 28 years since Cop Rock; we’re almost certain that singing cops are about to get their due.
