The full-length Wheelman trailer won't tell you Frank Grillo's damn name

Back when the Wheelman teaser trailer came out, it was little more than a barrage of imagery, all held together by the angular, grizzled face of Frank Grillo, definite contender for the America’s Hard-Bitten Badass Award. Now, we’ve got a full trailer—and it’s all Grillo, all the time.

Wheelman is one of those “it all happens in one night” crime films of the automobile-based persuasion. It takes the unknown-caller-antagonist trick of Getaway (or Phone Booth, if you want a slightly better movie’s version of it) and weds it to a Collateral-like cat and mouse game, as Grillo’s getaway driver attempts to figure out who is threatening him and why, all while trying to keep his daughter safe. It begins, as these things so often do, with a mysterious phone call mid-heist: The caller instructs Grillo to leave the two men currently engaged in a robbery behind, as they’re planning to kill him. From there, it spirals into an ongoing vehicular thrill ride, with Grillo our continuous guide through his adrenaline-laced night. Think Locke, but with gun fights and baddies in the back seat, and it gets closer to the heart of this actioner. Whether Grillo survives the night remains to be seen—we’ll find out when Netflix releases the film on October 20.
